Also i have an extreme dilemma in dark souls 2, i wanna equip the jesters top because i cant get backstabbed with it, which sounds useful, but it will ruin my fashion souls. What should i do, equip it or no? In such situations I prefer gittin' gud so that I don't expose my back without stamina to enemy, and wear whatever the hell I want.
My Sharp Dagger on 60 DEX with Hornet ring sometimes deals 1000+ damage on backstab. Estoc and Rapier have some bullshit critical damage, despite the low AR. chaos dagger is much better. My glass cannon build (no tearstone or morion) does 1200+ on backstab and is 1 hit against all but the tankiest of players on riposte.
Go for a backstab like you usually would. It's a connection issue, which means that unless you're preternaturally good at timing there's no benefit to trying to time it perfectly. When you get behind him, go for it. Obviously, the sooner the better because you want to actually get the backstab, not just guard against latency.
a fix would be just make it double check on both sides like ds3, but still have the "hit confirm" that ds2 had in order to get it off vs no hit confirm that ds3 had resulting in facestabs. instead of doing the stab animation, you would do a grab animation like 7:10 in amirs video (hit for 1 dmg). if you successfully "grab" the player, it would
For now it looks like pvp backstabs are dead unless they have made them work in the full game. Backstabs in pve are just as easy to do as in Dks1 from what I have seen, but in the CNT they didn't work in pvp at all. If your opponent as much as moved slightly to the right, it was enough to whiff the backstab.
Some enemies are immune to critical hits but can still be parried. 4. Parrying works in a group of enemies, while backstabbing gets you hit by the other enemies more easily. Especially in lower Undead Burg and Anor Londo, trying to fish for backstabs just results in you getting backstabbed by other enemies.
