Personally, I would heavily pad the tank, remove the clutch side controls from the bar, remove the bar and lay it on the tank without pulling the wires, and test fit the new bars with just the clutch to ensure it works. Bike developed a shake/pulsation/something not right when applying the front brake at Fwy speeds, seems ok when going slow.
