I have a standard one and it does help with my pains BUT it takes a lot of getting used to. Once you push past the first 60 seconds it gets nice and warm and eases the pain. However it is unbearable at certain times of my cycle, perhaps pain tolerance goes down…. I don't know anything about the mat sorry.
